Some marketing stunt, the Alibaba way

When you're just thinking to celebrate a nice concept you might have prepared for the upcoming Black Friday.... Just think again :)

Alibaba launched a communication satellite and a 'mini space station' into space ahead of its annual Singles Day shopping extravaganza that took place over the weekend. While the purpose of the mini space station (dubbed Candy Tin) was not revealed, the satellite will broadcast sentimental messages to consumers when it passes over their location.

Singles Day needs no introduction. In 2018 the event raked in USD 30.8 billion, once again making other mega shopping events - Amazon’s Prime Day (USD 4 billion) and last year’s Black Friday (USD 7.9 billion) - look like yard sales in comparison.
